Ermitage Brie Fondue – January’s Cheese of the Month

brie fondueI hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday and that 2013 is treating you all great so far.  With the new month comes a new cheese of the month, and we’ve chosen something absolutely perfect for this chilly time of year.  For those who didn’t get the Martha Stewart gene passed to them, fondue is no longer an elaborate, messy process!  Ermitage Brie Fondue simplifies the method for anyone with a microwave.  That’s right, I said microwave!

The 7-ounce round of Brie comes wrapped in paper in small wooden bowl.  To heat up, simply open the paper wrapping (removing the sticker), cut a slight X in the top of the Brie, and place in the microwave for about two minutes (or if your microwave is powerful, one minute & 45 seconds).  After those magical two minutes you have a bowl of warm, gooey, deliciousness!  This Brie fondue is mild and slightly buttery in flavor–a must have for Brie lovers!

I was lucky enough to get the Martha Stewart gene, and decided to play around with my round at home.  About a minute and a half through microwaving, I added 1/2-tablespoon of Chateau Ste. Michelle Chardonnay Cold Creek Vineyard 2009 that I was drinking at the time and a pinch or two of fresh chopped thyme and gave it a quick stir before continuing the last 30 seconds of microwaving.  Let me tell you, it was deeeeeelicious!  And still super easy!  So next time you’re in your local Vineyard Market looking for something yummy, give this a shot!  At the awesome sale price of $4.99, you can’t go wrong!
