Time to Pop Some Bubbly!
With Christmas under out belt and 2014 just days away, Bottle King is quickly switching into Champagne mode, which means all of us in the Vineyard Market are stocking up on all the accompaniments to go with your bubbly! Need a few pointers on what to pair with your favorite sparkling wine to make your New Year’s Eve party outstanding? Keep reading!!
- Triple-creme cheeses are the absolute best to pair with your Champagne! The bubbles cut through the dense, rich, creaminess of triple-creme cheeses and most importantly help elevate the flavors. Some wonderful suggestions include: Cowgirl Creamery Mt Tam; Delice de Bourgogne; Fromager D’Affinois (both plain and truffle); Saint Angel; Rougette; and Brillat Savarin.
- If triple-creme cheeses are too rich for your palate, double-creme Brie and Camembert are also very nice accompaniments.
- So you don’t like Brie-style cheeses? Don’t worry, there are a few other cheeses that pair well with bubbly! You’re going to want to look for something with a higher butterfat content. A double-cream Gouda, called Roomkaas, or rich cow’s milk tomme, such as Tomme des Pyrénées are great choices.
- Are you looking for a new way to present your Champagne to your guests? Why not add some flowers! Wild Hibiscus flowers in syrup are delicious, edible flowers that create a beautiful presentation while adding a subtle fruity flavor to the bubbly.
