Happy St. Patrick’s Day weekend! While you’re celebrating your Irish heritage (real or imaginary) with your Guinness pints, Irish soda bread, and corn beef, why not throw some Irish cheeses into the mix? Below are three of our favorite Irish cheeses here in the Vineyard Market–and be sure to check out these posts on two other Irish favorites–Dubliner with Stout & Aged Cheddar with Whiskey!
Dubliner – A deliciously aged cow’s milk cheese cheese that is similar to, but much more complex than, Cheddar. Firm and crumbly, Dubliner has a sweet and nutty flavor with just a subtle touch of sharpness. Pairs beautifully with a full-bodied red wine or your favorite Irish Stout!
Blarney Castle – 100% natural grass-fed-cow’s milk cheese, Blarney Castle is mild but rich and creamy–and very comparable to Dutch Gouda. Serve with fresh fruit and a crisp white wine, such as a Sauvignon Blanc.
Vintage Aged Cheddar – Distinctively creamy, yets rich, smooth, and sharp, Kerrygold’s Aged Cheddar is aged for a minimum of 12 months before finding its way to your table. Switch up your typical sandwich cheese with this one for sharp, Irish twist.
