Dinosaur Dad – Dinosaur Bar-B-Que Sauce
We’re nearing the end of June–it’s barbeque weather, everybody! And with Father’s Day just a couple days away, we’ve got the perfect treat for you to bring home: Dinosaur Bar-B-Que’s barbeque sauce.
The sauce’s creator, a chain of restaurants by the same name, first began in 1983 as a pop-up food stand for motorcycle shows, fairs, and other events around the Northeast. They finally settled down in 1988 in Syracuse, NY as a casual barbeque spot before expanding the size a couple years later. Dinosaur Bar-B-Que has won a number of honors and awards in magazines and on TV for their amazing food, spice rubs and sauces, and cookbook. Today, there are a total of 9 locations where you can enjoy dinner at a Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, including one nearby in Newark, NJ conveniently located within walking distance of Penn Station (see the whole list of locations on their site HERE).
New to all of the Bottle King Vineyard Markets, this barbeque sauce will be your new secret grilling ingredient. When I first opened a bottle of the Sensuous Slathering sauce, I immediately got a whiff of crushed tomatoes, and on my first taste I got so much more. With a nice acidity from the vinegar, it also has a hint of sweetness from the brown sugar and molasses within, and bits of garlic and bell pepper help to add an extra layer of flavor.
As far as barbeque sauces go, this one is sure to be a winner. With a medium thickness, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que’s Sensuous Slathering sauce can be used for a number of different things. As the bottle suggests, slather meat with it 10 minutes before serving or add it to soups, sauces, casseroles, and dressings.
