Perfect Pairings: May 2019

It’s a new month and that means it is time for a new Perfect Pairings for us! Since it is getting warmer out we have a French rosé wine, Folenvie Rosé at only $9.98* a bottle (with your club card). We have paired this pink beauty with deliciously sweet Lillé Cranberry and Cinnamon 4oz Goat Cheese Logs at only $3.99*.

Rosé wines have been around for a long time, but recently have gotten very popular. Some people tend to think all rosé wines are sweet like White Zinfandel, but this is not the case. I love a nice, crisp, dry provence rosé.

When you make a rosé wine, you don’t just combine a red and a white wine together. There is a whole process involved like making any other wine. You juice the grapes and the liquid that comes out is clear, but when it stays in contact with the red grape skins the color bleeds into the liquid. That whole process is called maceration. With rosé wines the juice is only soaked with the skins for a short period of time before they are removed and then the juice is allowed to ferment, thus creating rosé!

I treated myself to this rosé and cheese combo when I got home the other day. I was not disappointed. The Folenvie Rosé has a nose of cherry and a bit of a floral touch. Upon tasting you are greeted with fresh notes of strawberry and almost a blood orange hint, with a long and lingering finish of crisp, dry red berries. This wine will compliment any sort of outdoor get together or even a Mother’s Day Brunch!

Now, this cheese, let me tell you…the cinnamon in here is divine!! For being a sweeter style cheese, it’s not overpowering, and it is just so delicious. The cinnamon notes get mellowed out by the wine and the tartness of the cranberries in the cheese works very well with this fresh and fruity wine.

This rosé would also be perfect to create a sangria with for your next outside party!

What you’ll need:

  • 750 ml Folenvie Rosé Wine (1 bottle)
  • 1 cup pink grapefruit juice
  • 3/4 cup Coopers Mark Honey bourbon
  • 1/4 cup Chambord (raspberry liqueur)
  • 2 cups watermelon balls
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh sliced strawberries
  • 6 ounces fresh raspberries (add right before serving)
  • 2tbs  Superfine Sugar

Combine all ingredients together and serve over ice! Yum! Let us know if you try out this delicious recipe! Original recipe from here.
