Fromager d’Affinois with…TRUFFLES!

photo-4With the craziness of the holidays now over, I want to take a moment to introduce you to one of our break-out stars of this past holiday season–Fromager d’Affinois with truffles!  If you haven’t already tried it, well, you’re missing out!  Frequent Vineyard Market customers recognize the line of Fromager d’Affinois cheeses–a double-creme similar to Brie in appearance and flavor, but much creamier in texture.  Not only is the original variety produced, but a garlic & herb flavored, black pepper flavored, and now TRUFFLE flavored!

Originating from the Rhoes-Alps region of France, Fromager d’Affinois with truffle contains actual pieces of shaved truffle–unlike some other truffle cheeses which get their truffle flavoring from oil!  Despite this, d’Affinois truffle has a subtle earthy and garlicky flavor in addition to the creamy and buttery paste, and is not at all over powering.  I could not believe how popular this cheese was during the month of December!  I enjoyed it many times over the holidays with a bottle of Rodney Strong Russian River Reserve Chardonnay 2009. Delicous! So if you’re looking for something new and flavorful to spruce up your cheese board, Fromager d’Affinois with truffle is it!

    1. Hi Michael,

We are going to ask around to our cheese colleagues; Can I ask what area in California you are (northern, southern?) in order to point you in an accurate direction?
